Cot beds for babies

Whilst a newborn baby can sleep in a cot bed (70cm x 140cm) they are usually used for babies from around 18 months. The smaller(60cm x 120cm) cots which look very similar to a cotbed except the sides and foot panels of the bed cannot be removed to convert to a small bed for toddlers where a cot bed can.

If space is a limiting factor your other options are a next to me crib that is designed to be placed next to the parents bed (usually attached) or a traditional moses basket which tend to be the option for taking up the least space, is cheaper and more portable if it needs to be moved between rooms.

Baby cot with mattress

One of the most popular baby cots is this cot and mattress package (120cm x 60cm) available is traditional white or a modern grey. Ideal for newborns onwards this cot can be adjusted for newborns so that they are higher up making them easier to reach without having to bend down whilst your baby remains perfectly safe.

This beautiful cot is well made and safe being made from solid natural pine and painted with non-toxic (German made) paint. It meets the tough EN-716 EU safety standards. The included 60cm x 120cm foam mattress is 6cm thick and meets British Standards 1877 -10:2011 + A1:2012. The mattress has a removable aloe vera cover is antiallergenic and antibacterial.

A solid sturdy pull out drawer at the base is ideal for storing bedding and can fit such items as fitted cot bed sheets, baby sleeping bags, sleep suits, muslins, bids and vests.

The base of the bed can be fixed into 3 height positions, higher for newborns and as they grow the base can be lowered to ensure they remain safe as they start to pull themselves up.

The babies cot can be used to the aged of about 3 years as it can be converted to be used as a small cot bed with one side being converted to allow your little one to climb in and out of bed themselves.

Baby cot bed from birth to 6 years

The Rio wooden cot bed from Tutti Bambini is a great cot bed that you can use from birth up to the age of 6 years as it converts to a junior bed by removing the sides. It also includes a baby changing attachment that attaches to the top bars of the bed to provide a useful nappy changing area.

When it comes to safety the RIo is made from solid pine and meets the relevant British standards for safety compliance BS EN 713, BS EN 716, BS EN 8509. It also features 2 protective teething rails to prevent your little one from hurting their gums when they try to teeth on the rails.

This cot does not include a mattress so one would need to be purchased separately. I'd recommend you buy your mattress separately as this allows you to purchase a safer breathable cot bed mattress rather than relying on a mattress added to a cot bed and mattress bundle as an afterthought.
